Job description

Amentum/SNS is seeking two experienced Fiber Optic and Conduit Installation Technicians to support structured cabling deployments at classified government and commercial facilities. Work is casual/on-call, typically 2-4 weeks every 2-3 months, scheduled in advance around site access windows. Secondary tasking includes support of Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS) sensor installations. Active TS/SCI is mandatory - no sponsorship available.

What You'll Do

  • Bend and install EMT and flexible conduit for fiber and low-voltage pathways using both manual hand benders and mechanical/electric bending machines, including overhead, wall, and false-floor runs; skilled in offset bends, saddle bends, back-to-back bends, and segmented bends for larger diameter conduit
  • Pull, route, terminate, and label OS2 and OM3/OM4 fiber per TIA/EIA standards
  • Perform fusion splicing (Fujikura, Sumitomo, or equivalent) and field terminations (pre-polished/anaerobic and epoxy-polish methods)
  • Install patch panels, enclosures, splice trays, and jumpers
  • Conduct OTDR, insertion loss, and end-to-end fiber certification testing; submit clean labeled test documentation
  • Pull and terminate CAT6A STP to support sensor drops and IDF connections
  • Support WIDS sensor assembly, above-ceiling installation, and equipment staging as secondary tasking
  • Comply with all Amentum safety standards and classified facility access protocols

What You Bring

Required

  • Active TS/SCI clearance (in-scope, verifiable) - US Citizenship required
  • 3+ years hands-on fiber installation experience including fusion splicing and field termination
  • Proficiency in EMT and RMC conduit bending using both hand benders and mechanical/electric bending machines (offsets, saddles, back-to-backs, segmented bends)
  • OTDR and fiber certification test equipment experience (Fluke, VIAVI, or equivalent)
  • Willingness to travel CONUS and OCONUS; ability to work flexible/after-hours schedules

Preferred

  • FOA CFOT or CFOS/S certification
  • BICSI Installer Level I or II
  • OSHA 10
  • Experience in SCIF or ICD-705-compliant environments
  • Mass fusion / ribbon fiber splicing experience
  • Familiarity with Corning UniCam HP, Platinum Tools EXO, or equivalent termination systems

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs; work overhead and on ladders/scissor lifts; operate in above-ceiling and confined spaces
