Job Description

The Shipping Dock Operator is responsible for ensuring the rapid and accurate movement of materials, directly contributing to our operational efficiency and customer satisfaction within the warehouse using a walkie rider. The ideal candidate will possess strong forklift and material handling experience, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to safety and quality in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attendance & Reliability: Maintain consistent and punctual attendance, as this is critical to maintaining workflow and meeting demanding production and shipping targets. Operators are expected to be reliable and ready to work each scheduled shift to ensure the timely flow of materials.
  • Material Movement: Operate a walkie rider to transport materials to designated warehouse locations for replenishment and final put-away. Load and unload materials from incoming and outgoing docks, ensuring safe and efficient handling. Inspect machinery daily and report any maintenance needs or malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Inventory Management: Accurately utilize RF scanners and our Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track, verify, and document all material movements, ensuring real-time inventory accuracy for increased throughput.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks on all outbound materials, meticulously identifying and promptly reporting any damages, discrepancies (shortages/overages), or quality deficiencies to prevent shipping errors. 
  • Detailed Documentation: Produce and maintain accurate activity logs and records of all inventory transactions.
  • Safety & Compliance: Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to maintain a safe work environment and minimizing risks in a high-traffic area.
  • Dock & Warehouse Organization: Assist in keeping the dock area and warehouse organized and free from hazards. Participate in warehouse housekeeping activities, including cleaning and organizing storage areas as needed.
  • Cross-Functional Training: Engage in training for cross-functional tasks within the warehouse, enabling support in various departments as operational needs require. This may include tasks in receiving, shipping, and other areas to develop a broader understanding of warehouse operations.
  • Inventory Support: Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory activities, and other warehouse duties as directed by leadership to support accurate inventory levels.
  • Effective Communication: Communicates with supervisors, and team leaders to obtain the proper information and direction on material movement throughout the plant. May communicate and distribute specific information to managers, coworkers, and other associates concerning exceptions or quality issues.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution center setting, preferred.
  • Proficiency in using material handling equipment, such as walkie riders, RF scanners, and WMS.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to participate in cross-functional training to support other warehouse functions.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and equipment logging.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must demonstrate consistent adherence to safety procedures and housekeeping standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects up to 75 lbs. as needed.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching within a warehouse environment.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions, with exposure to heavy machinery.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $20.47 - $24.37 per hour. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc.
