Position Summary
Mayer Fabrics is seeking a dependable, team-oriented Warehouse Associate to support our daily warehouse operations. This hands-on role performs a variety of responsibilities across multiple departments, including Order Fulfillment, Receiving, and Shipping. The ideal candidate is flexible, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and accuracy are essential.
This position rotates between departments as business needs dictate, helping ensure operational efficiency and continuity during periods of high volume.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Order Fulfillment
- Verify fabric patterns and colors by cross-referencing paperwork and product tags
- Inspect fabric for flaws and ensure all materials meet quality standards
- Apply allowances as necessary and accurately prepare yardage orders
- Operate cutting equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain organized fabric inventory areas and workspaces
- Coordinate with Customer Service to ensure orders are completed accurately
- Assist walk-in customers as needed
- Communicate inventory concerns to the Warehouse Manager
- Participate in physical inventory counts and assist with departmental projects during downtime
Receiving
- Receive and inspect incoming products, materials, and supplies
- Coordinate with Customer Service, Purchasing, and other departments regarding inbound shipments
- Match shipments to purchase orders and document discrepancies
- Update inventory records and verify new products against master color standards
- Perform quality checks for quantity, color consistency, bow, skew, and overall product condition
- Report discrepancies and quality concerns to the Receiving Team Lead
- Assist walk-in customers as needed
Shipping
- Prepare and manage shipping documentation, including pick tickets, packing slips, and bills of lading
- Package shipments and ensure all required documentation is included
- Verify order accuracy, shipping methods, and shipping addresses
- Coordinate with Customer Service, Purchasing, and other departments regarding outbound orders
- Maintain an organized and efficient shipping area while meeting daily shipping deadlines
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous warehouse, shipping, receiving, manufacturing, or distribution experience preferred
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn warehouse management systems and shipping software
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday
- Ability to regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 80 pounds
- Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment and work in a fast-paced warehouse environment
