Sea Mar Community Health Centers, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) founded in 1978, is a community-based organization committed to providing quality, comprehensive health, human, housing, educational and cultural services to diverse communities, specializing in service to Latinos in Washington State. Sea Mar's network of services includes more than 90 medical, dental, and behavioral health clinics and a wide variety of nutritional, social, and educational services. We are recruiting for the following position:

Medical Assistant Apprentice (MAA)
The Medical Assistant Apprentice (MAA) supports providers and the care team in delivering high-quality, patient-centered primary care while participating in a structured, state-approved apprenticeship program. This role combines paid on-the-job training with coursework to prepare the apprentice for Medical Assistant-Certified (MAC) credentialing.
Key Duties:
Room patients; obtain histories and vital signs
Track and document clinical quality measures in the EHR (HEDIS, UDS, etc.)
Assist providers with exams, minor procedures, and charting
Administer immunizations and medications per standing orders and scope of practice
Coordinate labs, referrals, and specialty care
Prepare exam rooms and maintain infection control standards
Participate in care team huddles and support patient flow
Provide excellent customer service using the AIDET model
Program Requirements:
Completion of 2,000 hours of paid on-the-job training with an MA coach
Completion of 364 hours of supplemental coursework (unpaid)
Attendance at required in-person lab days and certification testing
Track and submit training hours and skill documentation
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; at least 18 years of age
Eligible to participate in a WA State-approved MA Apprenticeship Program
CPR/BLS required
HIV/AIDS training required
Ability to commit time outside of work hours for coursework
Ambulatory or primary care experience preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Fast-paced outpatient setting. May require travel to other clinic locations.
