Engineer IV - Warehouse Control Systems

Position Summary:
The Engineer IV Warehouse Control Systems is responsible for the implementation and support of vendor supplied warehouse control systems. Interacts with clients and core team members to understand and develop automation requirements and transforms them into functional specifications and integration requirementsYour role on the team:
Your role on the team:
  • Manages vendor relationships with our warehouse control systems (WCS) implementation partners
  • Determines warehouse management systems/warehouse control systems/labor management systems interfaces necessary to meet functional requirements
  • Collaborates with solutions and engineering teams to develop the function design and documents to share with cross-functional teams, and to ensure that functionality is applied correctly and can be successfully implemented
  • Acts as liaison between technical IT resources (data centers, networking, developers) and the WCS vendor resources
  • Leads CIRT calls by coordinating vendor support and on-site resources as well as by applying troubleshooting techniques to resolve issues.
  • Holds WCS vendor accountable to develop a reason for outage report (RFO) when any WCS system fails
  • Participates in scope confirmation sessions with client and conducts gap analysis to ensure issues are resolved; identifies changes to the scope when they occur and provides necessary documentation and escalation
  • Identifies risks and creates risk mitigation plans to reduce company exposure and risks on projects and communicates risks to management
  • Leads material handling equipment and warehouse control system commissioning, including test script writing, schedule development, data preparation, test execution and issue resolution
  • Acts as a subject matter expert when collaborating with other design engineering team members to ensure designs are supported with appropriate application of material handling equipment and automation
  • Develops and recommends opportunities to improve overall warehouse control system
  • Provides engineering leadership and executive team with monthly WCS updates
  • Researches and maintains knowledge of emerging industry practice
  • Participates in an after-hours on-call support rotation of approximately one week per month

What you need:
  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field with sufficient experience
  • Minimum 6 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination education and experience
  • Combination of experience in WCS software, material handling automation, and warehouse management systems implementation is preferred
  • 3PL warehousing, distribution center or fulfillment experience preferred
  • Varied industrial or distribution background such as food and beverage, retail and apparel, FMCG, healthcare, or automotive is preferred
  • PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Proficient in using SQL to query databases
  • Excellent analytical/problem solving capabilities and presentation skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills that demonstrate a proven ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external customers
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Able to operate with minimal direction and guidance or leadership involvement
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, metric-driven environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities'
