Job description

Emergency Vehicle Technician Opportunity Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) to join our team. The EVT will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining emergency response vehicles and their specialized equipment, including fire apparatus, ambulances, rescue vehicles, and law enforcement vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and a commitment to keeping critical emergency vehicles safe and operational.
Job Duties:
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on emergency vehicles and apparatus.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and hydraulic systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, warning lights, sirens, radios, and other emergency equipment.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and regulations.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately and timely.
  • Install and service specialized emergency vehicle equipment and accessories.
  • Respond to emergency repair needs when required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with fleet managers, emergency personnel, and other technicians.

Qualifications:
Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various shop and field conditions.

Preferred
  • EVT Certification(s) through the Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission.
  • ASE certifications.
  • Experience with ambulances, fire apparatus, or law enforcement vehicles.
  • CDL (Commercial Driver's License).
  • Experience with multiplex electrical systems and vehicle electronics.
