Job description

Clinical Opportunities Available
VSI is the premier Center of Excellence for spinal health care in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. We are seeking an exceptional Physician Assistant to join our highly specialized team of spine surgeons and eleven elite PAs. This is a highly specialized PA role designed for clinicians who enjoy complex pathology, close collaboration with surgeons, and continuous learning.
For over 30 years, VSI has delivered unparalleled spine care, improving the lives of more than 100,000 patients through an uncompromising commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and patient-centered outcomes. Our practice operates in a concierge, out-of-network model that prioritizes time, precision, academic rigor, and extraordinary care over volume.
Why VSI

  • Collaborative culture: A supportive, team-oriented environment built on mutual respect, accountability, and a shared commitment to excellent patient care
  • Elite clinical exposure: Complex spinal pathology, cutting-edge surgical techniques, and hands-on operative experience utilizing advanced spinal technologies, including robotics, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence
  • Academic advancement: Physician Assistant residency and fellowship programs with diploma, ongoing mentorship, professional development, and intellectual growth rarely available in private practice
  • Concierge-level care: Deep patient relationships, thoughtful decision-making, and the time to do things the right way
The Role
Physician Assistants at VSI are integral clinical partners who work side-by-side with spine surgeons, across the full continuum of care, including the OR. We are seeking standout, driven, and intellectually curious PAs who take pride in mastery and want to practice at the highest level.
Responsibilities include:
  • Comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning for spine patients in the office
  • Interpretation of advanced imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT, nuclear medicine, labs)
  • High-level patient education using imaging, models, and individualized counseling
  • First-assist responsibilities in complex spinal procedures, including discectomy, disc replacement, spinal fusion, instrumentation, detailed anatomic dissection, and wound closure
  • Participation in technologically advanced spine surgery incorporating robotics, augmented reality, and AI-driven planning and execution
  • Direct patient communication, including daily follow-up and care coordination
  • Medication management with thoughtful, evidence-based prescribing
  • Preventative care and education related to musculoskeletal health and osteoporosis
  • Active collaboration within a multidisciplinary, high-performing team (spine surgery, regenerative medicine, physiatry, neurology, and anesthesia pain management)
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program (Master's degree preferred)
  • NCCPA certification
  • Active Virginia PA license (or eligibility)
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and professional maturity
  • Ability to thrive in a high-acuity environment with strong clinical standards and team-based support
  • A genuine commitment to excellence in patient care
This role is ideal for a Physician Assistant who:
  • Wants more than a "job"
  • Values culture, mentorship, and growth
  • Seeks meaningful responsibility and impact
  • Is motivated to practice at the top of the profession

We are thoughtful about building our team and invest heavily in those who join us. If you are looking to be challenged, supported, and proud of where you practice medicine, VSI may be the right fit.
