Position Overview:
Nightwing is seeking a motivated and skilled HVAC Technician to join a dynamic and fast-paced program at a world-class operations facility. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing operational support and facilities maintenance, ensuring optimal performance of HVAC systems. This position requires a combination of preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks, with an emphasis on both independent and team-based work. Candidate is responsible for assessing various conditions, determining technical solutions, and executing tasks in line with manufacturer recommendations, client specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards. In addition, you will collaborate with supervisors and clients to present recommendations and follow through to task completion. There may also be additional site duties as required to support mission-related initiatives.
Clearance Requirements: TS/SCI with CI POLY. Must be willing to upgrade clearance
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including chillers, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, and associated infrastructure

  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, providing solutions to routine to complex issues

  • Manage as-built documentation and ensure proper change management processes are adhered to

  • Support future site modifications and upgrades, offering expertise during the design and planning phases

  • Analyze performance data to identify opportunities for system expansions and improvements in energy efficiency

  • Participate in operations and maintenance (O&M) efforts to ensure the continued functionality of all mechanical systems

  • Work collaboratively with other trades and professionals to complete projects on time and within scope

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with HVAC mechanical systems, including chiller plants, FCUs, air handling units, in-row coolers, and VRF systems

  • Experience with as-built documentation and change management in mechanical systems

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to support system improvements and design modifications

  • Hands-on experience with chilled water systems (CWS), pumps, valves, and associated HVAC infrastructure

  • Ability to carry and use tools/equipment (up to 45 lbs) and work with hand and power tools for prolonged periods

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and drive successful project outcomes

Desired Qualifications:
  • HVAC Journeyman License or equivalent certification
  • Experience with building management system (BMS) modifications and optimization

  • Cross-training in additional trades, including electrical, plumbing, and structural work

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet research for product specification searches

  • Basic carpentry, plumbing, and heavy equipment operation skill

Salary & Benefits
The salary associated with this position ($77,000-$163,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
