The Role The Vice President of Sales, Public Sector Federal is responsible for leading Lumen's sales organization serving the Federal Government, driving revenue growth, market expansion, and customer outcomes with a digital first approach. The Vice President role is an executive leader of senior leaders, owning a nationwide and international territory covering all facets of federal business including Defense, Civilian, Intelligence, and System Integrators/DIBs, and the connected ecosystem of partners Lumen enables. This executive will set sales strategy, lead and develop high performing sales leaders and teams, and partner closely across Lumen's Public Sector ecosystem-including engineering & architectures, capture, proposals, operations, customer success, product, and compliance-to deliver differentiated solutions for public sector customers.

This role requires deep experience selling complex technology and managed services to federal customers, strong knowledge of procurement vehicles and regulatory environments, and a proven track record of leading large, matrixed sales organizations within the Federal market. The Main Responsibilities Sales Strategy & Growth Own and execute the gotomarket strategy for the Federal segment, aligned with Lumen Public Sector and enterprise growth objectives. Drive sustainable, market leading sales and revenue digital growth strategy across As a Service Digital Networking, edge, security, cloud connectivity, and managed services portfolios.

Execute consistent, highly focused commercial rigor - pipeline generation, CRM hygiene, close and commit ratios and accuracy in forecasting. Identify and create market opportunities, shaping with customers modernization, digitization, multi-cloud and AI enablement initiatives, as you prioritize vertical and account investment, and guide long-range sales planning. Establish clear performance metrics, forecasts, and pipeline health standards to ensure predictable, sustainable and meaningful growth.

Leadership & Team Development - This leader must drive consistent team performance, ensuring budget is achieved with a healthy mix of deal types, customers and pursuit strategies. (Strategic, large, run rate, and innovation targets) Lead, mentor, and develop a senior leadership team of regional and vertical sales leaders. Be a steadfast example and executor of transparency, trust, integrity and honesty.

Champion, embody and strengthen the Lumen8 culture, driving accountability, collaboration, and customer centricity across the Federal sales organization. Partner with Talent Acquisition and HR to attract, develop, and retain top Public Sector sales talent. Customer & Partner Engagement - This role must be routinely in front of customers and partners, building and growing strategic relationships.

Serve as an executive owner and sponsor for key government customers.Must have CIO level relationships in federal agencies. Build trusted executive level relationships with customer decision makers, procurement officials, and partners. Represent Lumen at industry events, customer forums, and Public Sector engagements

Cross Functional Collaboration and influence driven leadership across Lumen ecosystems such as legal, HR, finance, product engineering, etc. Work closely with Capture & Proposals, Solutions Engineering, Managed Services, Compliance, Operations, Customer Success, and Program Management to deliver end-to-end customer outcomes. Partner with Product and Marketing teams to provide clear, accountable, and data driven Federal market insights to define roadmap priorities.

Ensure seamless handoffs from sales to delivery and program management with ongoing collaborative account management. Compliance & Operational Excellence. Ensure sales activities and staff comply with Public Sector regulations, contracting rules, and ethical standards.

Partner with Pricing, Legal, Contracts and Public Policy to shape governance, legislation, policy, and growth enabling contractual terms, while maintaining prudent risk management. What We Look For in a Candidate Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience; MBA or advanced degree preferred. 15+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, with significant and proven experience as a senior leader in Public Sector sales exceeding quotas.

Proven track record of leading large, complex sales organizations and achieving multiyear sales and revenue growth. P&L ownership of $750 million minimum, $1 billion preferred. Deep understanding of Federal procurement processes, contracting vehicles, and regulatory requirements.

Experience selling complex technology, telecommunications, network, cloud, security, or managed services solutions. Strong executive presence and ability to influence at Csuite and senior government levels. Demonstrated executive engagement at the appropriate levels in government across the organization and broader ecosystem.

TS/SCI Security Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Experience selling within highly regulated or mission critical environments. Experience working in a matrixed enterprise sales environment.

Experience working with and engaging the Systems Integrator community to shape opportunities, partnerships, and customer outcomes. Compensation This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location.

Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors. Location Based Pay Ranges $265,684 - $354,234 in all states.
