Job description

Plastic Product Formers, a VP Racing company, seeks to fill the role of Maintenance Worker - 2nd Shift. The ideal candidate will have some experience in a broad variety of maintenance-related functions, including but not limited to, pneumatics, hydraulics, blow-molding, basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical. They should also possess a strong desire to be present, to learn and grow, and the ability to produce consistent results working both independently as well as part of a team.   • Maintenance Worker - 2nd Shift
  • Hours: Mon - Fri 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM
  • FULL TIME

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Carry out all duties that are necessary for maintaining equipment and machinery in good working order; report the need for further maintenance and safety to supervising staff.
  • Ensure the proper use and care of all tools in the workshop for cutting, bending, welding, and repairing equipment.
  • Carry out regular evaluations of workshop equipment to ensure that they are in good working condition and functioning properly.
  • Perform and maintain records of scheduled preventative maintenance on plant equipment. Repair and maintain rolling stock.
  • Ensure maximum safety of all workers under their supervision by ensuring that they observe all OSHA and VP Racing safety policies and procedures, and report conditions that are likely to endanger the safety of workers to management for a quick resolution.
  • May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts, and order parts as needed.
  • Perform the installation and repairs of fire and emergency alarms and other appliances that are used to call out for help in cases of emergency.
  • Responds to emergency requests for maintenance (after hours/weekends as needed).
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Requirements
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to maintain safe work environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair against repeated breakdowns.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and other rolling stock, as needed (e.g. - skid steer, man-lift,
  • Basic computer skills (i.e.-Microsoft Office).

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum three years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with pumps, small motors, and filling equipment preferred. Welding experience is a plus. Blow Molding equipment experience a plus.
  • HAZMAT training a plus.

Physical Demands:
  • Requires heavy lifting.
  • Requires Standing for 8-10 hours per day
  • Requires Kneeling/Squatting for 4-6 hours per day
  • Requires Bending/Stooping for 4-6 hours per day
  • Requires use of a Pallet Jack to move palletized containers. Palletized containers weigh about 1,296 lbs.
  • Requires lifting and carrying objects that weigh between 36-55 lbs. from 2-4 hours per day. Regular lifting and carrying objects that weigh less than 15 lbs. from 8-10 hours per day.
  • Job requires a significant amount of time spent outside subject to various weather conditions.

Work Environment
  • Location of position: Plant
  • Work performed in an outside warehouse environment.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record are required

  • Work is performed in a combination of shop / outdoor environments.
  • May be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils.
