Job description

John Boner Neighborhood Centers | Indianapolis, IN
At John Boner Neighborhood Centers (JBNC), we believe technology should empower people-not create barriers. As our Vice President of Systems, you'll lead the strategy, implementation, and continuous improvement of the technology and data systems that help our teams serve neighbors more effectively. From strengthening cybersecurity and modernizing enterprise applications to leading AI initiatives and building a unified data environment, you'll help shape the future of how JBNC operates and measures community impact.
About the Role
The Vice President of Systems is a senior leader responsible for JBNC's enterprise technology ecosystem. You'll oversee IT operations, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, enterprise applications, and the organization's new Database of Record (DoR), ensuring systems are secure, integrated, and easy for staff to use.
Working closely with executive leadership, department leaders, and technology partners, you'll develop long-term technology strategies, oversee major system implementations, and ensure our technology investments directly support our mission and organizational goals. You'll also lead a small multidisciplinary team while helping foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
Enterprise Technology Leadership
  • Develop and execute JBNC's long-term technology strategy and systems roadmap.
  • Oversee enterprise IT operations, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, cloud infrastructure, and collaboration platforms.
  • Ensure technology systems remain secure, reliable, scalable, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Lead governance efforts that prioritize technology investments and system improvements.
  • Champion responsible and ethical use of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Database of Record & Data Strategy
  • Lead the implementation and ongoing management of JBNC's Database of Record (DoR).
  • Ensure systems integrate seamlessly with HR, finance, case management, housing, CRM, and external reporting platforms.
  • Improve data quality, interoperability, and organizational reporting.
  • Support a unified view of organizational impact by strengthening data governance and integration.
  • Assist with maintaining and enhancing JBNC's existing ETO data tracking system.

Leadership & Organizational Change
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary technology team, including internal staff and external technology partners.
  • Coach team members while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Partner with department leaders to successfully implement new systems and improve technology adoption across the organization.
  • Build organizational confidence in using technology and data to improve decision-making.

Vendor & Technology Management
  • Manage technology budgets, software licensing, vendor contracts, and procurement.
  • Evaluate technology solutions and oversee vendor performance.
  • Ensure technology investments deliver long-term value and support JBNC's strategic priorities.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Systems, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, enterprise systems, or data operations.
  • Experience leading large-scale enterprise technology implementations and organizational change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and technology projects.

Technical Expertise
Experience with many of the following:
  • Microsoft 365 and SharePoint administration
  • Cloud infrastructure and networking
  • Cybersecurity strategy and governance
  • Identity and access management (Entra ID/Azure AD)
  • Enterprise systems such as HRIS, ERP, CRM, and case management platforms
  • APIs, integrations, middleware, ETL processes, and enterprise data architecture
  • Business intelligence, reporting, dashboards, and data visualization
  • Complex multi-system implementations and technology modernization initiatives.

What Success Looks Like
Successful Vice Presidents of Systems create technology environments that are secure, reliable, and easy to use. They help staff confidently adopt new systems, improve the quality and accessibility of organizational data, and build strong partnerships across departments. Success is measured by improved technology adoption, stronger collaboration, better organizational reporting, and technology solutions that enable JBNC to serve neighbors more effectively. Leaders in this role also foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, innovation, and ethical stewardship of technology and data.
Why Join JBNC?

As Vice President of Systems, you'll have the opportunity to build modern technology solutions, influence organizational strategy, lead meaningful innovation, and help strengthen the systems that empower our staff and improve outcomes for the neighbors we serve.
