Job description

Asset Management Public-Trade Management - Shared-Salt Lake City-Vice President

Salt Lake City, UT, United States

Job Description

The Vice President (VP) of Trade Management Operations is a senior leadership position within Global Markets Operations / Middle Office. This role is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end trade lifecycle—encompassing trade capture, validation, matching, allocation, and settlement across various asset classes (such as Equities, Fixed Income, FX, and Derivatives).

As a key leader, the VP ensures operational excellence, mitigates transactional and systemic risks, and drives strategic transformation through automation and technology integration. The role requires close collaboration with Front Office trading desks, Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, and external institutional clients.

Key Responsibilities 1. Trade Lifecycle & Execution Management
  • End-to-End Oversight: Manage daily trade flow, order management, allocation, and settlement processes to ensure seamless execution and high Straight-Through Processing (STP) rates.
  • Exception & Break Resolution: Oversee the rapid investigation and resolution of trade matching discrepancies, settlement failures, and cash/position breaks.
  • Lifecycle Event Management: Manage complex post-trade events, including corporate actions, option exercises/assignments, expiries, and cash settlements.
  • Control Enhancement: Design, implement, and continuously strengthen pre- and post-trade compliance controls to mitigate operational, market, and regulatory risks.
  • Incident Management: Lead the identification, escalation, and resolution of operational incidents, ensuring thorough root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to global regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., CFTC, SEC, EMIR, MiFID II) and exchange‑mandated rules.
3. Innovation & Operational Transformation
  • Process Re‑engineering: Identify operational bottlenecks and drive workflow optimization using automation, low‑code platforms, and advanced analytics.
  • Technology Integration: Partner with Engineering and Product teams to implement next‑generation Order Management Systems (OMS), Execution Management Systems (EMS), and AI/ML‑driven reconciliation tools.
  • System Upgrades: Lead operational readiness testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) for exchange‑mandated upgrades and internal system migrations.
  • People Management: Direct, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of Analysts and Associates across local and remote locations.
  • Performance Culture: Set clear performance objectives, conduct evaluations, and foster an inclusive, collaborative, and accountable work environment.
5. Stakeholder & Client Relationship Management
  • Front‑Office Partnership: Act as the primary operational liaison for Portfolio Managers, Sales, and Trading desks to support business growth and resolve complex booking issues.
  • Client Enablement: Support strategic client initiatives, manage complex onboarding events, and represent the firm’s operational capabilities in client pitches and governance forums.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA, CFA, or FRM charter is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Typically 7+ years of experience in trade operations, middle office, or investment operations within a top‑tier investment bank, asset manager, or broker‑dealer.
  • Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of financial instruments, including cash equities, fixed income, FX, and complex derivatives (ETD and OTC).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in OMS/EMS platforms, reconciliation software, advanced Excel, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx). Experience with SQL, Python, or robotic process automation (RPA) is a strong advantage.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven track record of managing teams through organizational change.
