Are you an experienced mechanical estimating leader with a passion for precision, strategy, and team development?

Our client, a leading mechanical contracting firm known for delivering high-quality HVAC, plumbing, and piping solutions, is seeking a Vice President of Mechanical Preconstruction to lead and elevate their growing preconstruction and estimating division.


About the Role

As the Vice President of Mechanical Preconstruction, you will guide the full estimating function from conceptual budgeting through final bid submission ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with company goals. You’ll collaborate with executive leadership, project managers, and clients to drive profitable growth and support the company’s expanding presence across the Southeast.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical estimators and preconstruction professionals.
  • Review specifications, drawings, and bid documents to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates.
  • Establish and maintain estimating standards, databases, and best practices.
  • Partner with business development and operations teams to evaluate opportunities and develop winning strategies.
  • Conduct project risk assessments and provide value-engineering recommendations.
  • Oversee final pricing, proposal development, and client presentation.
  • Monitor market trends, labor rates, and material costs to ensure competitive bids.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of mechanical estimating experience (HVAC, plumbing, or piping).
  • Demonstrated success leading an estimating or preconstruction department.
  • Strong expertise in mechanical systems and construction methodologies.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (Trimble, QuoteSoft, or similar).
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership capabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
