What are VP Risk?

A VP Risk, or Vice President of Risk, is a senior executive responsible for overseeing an organization's risk management strategies and policies. They identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could impact the company's financial performance, reputation, or operations. VP Risk professionals often lead teams that analyze market, operational, credit, and regulatory risks, and they work closely with other executives to ensure the company's objectives are achieved within acceptable risk parameters.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a VP of Risk, and why are they important?

To thrive as a VP of Risk, you need deep expertise in risk management, financial analysis, regulatory compliance, and a strong educational background—often including an advanced degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Job description

LaSalle Network is hiring on behalf of a Chicago-based residential real estate brokerage and development services firm. Due to growth, they are seeking a Vice President of People to lead and evolve the HR function into a true strategic partner to the business.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organization at a pivotal stage of growth and transformation. The Vice President of People will work closely with the executive team to shape the company's people strategy, strengthen organizational infrastructure, and help build the foundation needed to support long-term success. We're looking for someone who is both strategic and hands-on - a leader who can think big while also driving execution and bringing ideas to life.
You'll lead a team of five talented HR professionals with expertise across talent acquisition, people operations, and employee experience. Success in this role will require a leader who can unify the team, establish clear direction, and create an environment built on trust, accountability, and growth.
Vice President of People Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee the People function, ensuring the HR strategy supports the company's continued growth and operational goals
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing HR team across talent acquisition, employee relations, onboarding, compensation, learning and development, and people operations
  • Improve and scale HR infrastructure, systems, and workflows to support a growing organization
  • Drive workforce planning and organizational design initiatives to ensure the right talent and structure are in place
  • Partner closely with leadership to establish organizational clarity, role alignment, and performance expectations
  • Ensure strong HR practices related to compliance, policies, employee relations, and risk management
  • Oversee and enhance the employee experience across the full employee lifecycle within a multi-entity environment
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team on organizational and people-related matters
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and strengthen organizational effectiveness

Vice President of People Responsibilities:
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including experience managing and developing HR teams
  • BA required; HR certification preferred (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP/SCP, CLRP, or similar)
  • Proven experience building scalable HR systems and processes in high-growth or evolving environments
  • HR focus in talent development, succession planning, and performance management
  • Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-location organizations is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with HR systems and technology platforms, ideally with prior implementation experience

Key Details:
  • Compensation: $180,000-200,000 base salary, with eligibility to earn a bonus
  • Location: Chicago, Hybrid - on-site 4 days per week
  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, 401k match
