Job description

Vice President, Commercial Lender

Clayton Branch | Bank of Washington

Build Relationships. Grow a Market. Shape the Future.

We are seeking a Vice President, Commercial Lender for our Clayton branch who is energized by building relationships and growing both a portfolio and a career.

This role is ideal for a driven commercial banker who thrives on networking, business development, and community presence, and who sees long-term opportunity in helping shape a key market for the bank.

This is more than managing loans—it’s about creating opportunity.

You’ll have the autonomy to:

  • Build and expand a commercial loan portfolio
  • Become a trusted advisor to local business owners
  • Actively grow the Bank of Washington brand in Clayton and surrounding communities
  • Position yourself for continued career growth within a growing community bank

We’re looking for someone with ambition, strong potential, and the desire to grow—someone who wants to make an impact, not just maintain a book of business.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop business relationships by actively networking and engaging with business owners, professional advisors, and community leaders
  • Identify, pursue, and close new lending opportunities, including business loans, lines of credit, SBA loans, and deposit relationships
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor, delivering flexible, competitive solutions tailored to clients’ needs
  • Underwrite and structure credit requests, including financial analysis, credit memos, pricing, and terms
  • Partner with internal credit and operations teams to deliver a seamless client experience
  • Manage and monitor your loan portfolio, ensuring strong credit quality and proactive risk management
  • Represent the bank in the community, participating in business organizations, events, and local initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Prior experience in Commercial Lending, Financial Services, and/or Outside Sales
  • Strong understanding of credit analysis, loan structuring, and risk management
  • Proven ability—or strong potential—to develop new business relationships
  • Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through skills

Why Bank of Washington:

  • Community-focused bank that reinvests locally
  • Relationship-driven culture with high standards of integrity and character
  • Opportunity to grow in a visible, high-impact role
  • Supportive leadership and collaborative environment
  • A platform for long-term professional growth

You’ll be successful here if you:

  • Are motivated by relationship-building and business development
  • Enjoy being visible and connected in the community
  • Think entrepreneurially about growing a market and a portfolio
  • Balance growth with strong credit judgment
  • See your career as a long-term journey, not just a job

Ready to Grow With Us?

If you’re energized by networking, passionate about helping businesses succeed, and motivated by the opportunity to grow a meaningful commercial banking career in Clayton, we’d love to talk.

The Bank of Washington is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
