Job Summary

The SVP, Product serves as a leader responsible for setting and executing the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Specialty Property Division (SPD) at TMH. This role owns the full product lifecycle, ensuring SPD’s property offerings are market-responsive, operationally sound, and aligned with the organization’s underwriting appetite, financial objectives, and enterprise strategy.


Reporting to the President of SPD, this position partners closely with Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Technology, Compliance, and Distribution to deliver profitable growth, disciplined innovation, and consistent product execution. The role requires deep specialty property expertise, strong executive presence, and the ability to translate market intelligence, portfolio performance, and regulatory considerations into actionable product decisions that strengthen competitive positioning and long-term sustainability.


Location:

  • Preferred: Frisco, TX (hybrid, 2-3 days/week in office)
  • Also open to: Chicago, IL
  • Exceptional candidates in other U.S. locations may be considered on a remote basis


Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the product strategy for the Specialty Property Division (SPD), aligning with the organizations enterprise vision and underwriting appetite.
  • Lead the SPD product roadmap, balancing innovation with disciplined underwriting and profitability targets.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities, such as evolving property exposures or digital distribution partnerships, and translate them into actionable product initiatives.
  • Maintain continuous insight into portfolio performance, monitoring key indicators such as rate adequacy, loss ratios, retention, and broker feedback.
  • Modernize legacy product offerings and ensure seamless integration with policy administration systems.
  • Champion efficiency and consistency in product governance, documentation, and communication across all SPD departments.
  • Evaluate potential new specialty segments or program acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with claims to ensure product terms support a predictable loss experience.
  • Strengthen broker and carrier partnerships and position SPD’s property offerings competitively.
  • Work with operations and technology to streamline implementation of new clients and products.
  • Build bridges across Underwriting, Compliance, Accounting and Corporate functions to ensure unified execution of strategic priorities


Experience and Skills

  • P&C and Surplus insurance licenses.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in property insurance, including underwriting, product management, or portfolio strategy within both Admitted and E&S environment.
  • Proven track record in developing and managing profitable property programs
  • Strong technical knowledge of product design, rate and forms, regulatory compliance, and reinsurance structures.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with actuarial, underwriting, and distribution to deliver profitable growth.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to synthesize complex market, regulatory, and risk data into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, with experience influencing at the enterprise level.


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Professional designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM, or equivalent) preferred


Additional Job Details:

The pay range for this role is $180k - $225k. This range reflects a good faith estimate of pay at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, knowledge, education, and internal pay equity.
