Job description

Vice President, Data Center Development - Miami, FL

A high-growth North American digital infrastructure company is seeking a VP of Data Center Development to drive the preconstruction execution of large-scale data center projects across the US.

The Role

With a strong pipeline of sites already secured, this role is focused on what comes next โ€” getting them built-ready. You'll lead all predevelopment activity from due diligence through entitlements, permitting, and utility coordination, handing off fully de-risked projects to the construction team.

Just as importantly, this is a genuine build opportunity. The function is yours to shape โ€” you'll define how development gets done, build the team around you, and establish the processes and partnerships that will underpin the company's growth for years to come.

What You'll Do

  • Build, lead, and scale the data center development function
  • Lead technical and regulatory due diligence on acquired sites
  • Own the entitlements and permitting process across multiple jurisdictions
  • Coordinate with utilities on power delivery, interconnection agreements, and capacity commitments
  • Manage external consultants, engineers, and local advisors through the preconstruction phase
  • Work closely with construction, finance, and operations to ensure seamless project handoff
  • Track and report development progress across a multi-site portfolio

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years in data center and/or energy preconstruction / development
  • Deep experience with entitlements, permitting, and utility coordination
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously across different markets
  • Strong relationships with utilities, municipalities, and regulatory bodies
  • A builder โ€” someone who thrives creating structure and process where little existed before
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Miami

Why Join

The pipeline is real, the capital is committed, and the mandate is clear. This is a rare chance to own a critical function at a pivotal moment in the company's growth โ€” and leave a real mark on how it scales.
