Position Summary
The VP, Enterprise Technology & Delivery is a senior technology leader responsible for the enterprise applications portfolio, enterprise architecture strategy, and the program/project delivery discipline (PMO) that ensures technology initiatives are prioritized, resourced, and executed reliably. This role is the CIO's key partner in translating business strategy into a well-architected, well-governed technology roadmap - and in making sure that roadmap actually gets delivered.
This is a working VP role: this person leads the team and sets direction but is also expected to roll up their sleeves - reviewing architecture designs, working directly in project plans and vendor negotiations, and stepping into the details when it matters, not just directing from above. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can operate at both the strategic level (architecture direction, portfolio prioritization, vendor strategy) and the operational level (unblocking projects, driving accountability, doing the work alongside the team when needed) in a fast-paced, multi-unit, PE-backed environment.
This role currently also carries temporary oversight of Enterprise Data, working in close partnership with the CIO, until a dedicated VP of Enterprise Data is hired. This role will not have direct reporting responsibility for that function going forward but will remain a close strategic partner to it given the natural overlap with applications and architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture
• Define and maintain the enterprise architecture strategy, standards, and roadmap across applications, integrations, and data
• Ensure new systems and integrations align with a coherent, scalable architecture rather than accumulating as point solutions
• Own architectural decision-making for major initiatives (M&A integration, system consolidation, platform selection)
• Partner with security and infrastructure leadership to ensure architecture decisions account for risk, compliance, and operational resilience
• Personally lead architecture design and decision-making on the organization's highest-priority initiatives, rather than delegating all technical depth to the team
Enterprise Applications
• Own the strategy, roadmap, and operational health of core enterprise applications (ERP, estimating/operating systems, HR, finance, and related business systems)
• Manage the application portfolio lifecycle: rationalization, upgrades, integrations, and retirements
• Serve as the escalation point for major application vendors and ensure vendor relationships deliver value and accountability
• Drive integration strategy across best-of-breed systems, reducing manual/duplicate data entry across the business
PMO & Delivery
• Build and lead the PMO function: intake, prioritization, resourcing, and governance for technology initiatives
• Establish delivery standards (methodology, reporting, risk management) appropriate for the size and pace of the organization - rigorous enough to create accountability, lightweight enough not to slow the business down
• Provide visibility to the CIO and executive stakeholders on portfolio status, risks, and tradeoffs
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with measurable business outcomes
• Directly manage or co-manage the organization's most critical or highest-risk initiatives rather than relying solely on the PMO team
Enterprise Data (Temporary Oversight)
• Provide interim leadership and prioritization for Enterprise Data initiatives, in close partnership with the CIO, until a dedicated VP of Enterprise Data is hired
• Ensure data architecture and governance decisions made during this period are consistent with the broader enterprise architecture strategy
• Support a smooth transition of this function to a dedicated leader once that role is filled
Leadership
• Build, mentor, and scale a team of architects, application owners, and project/program managers
• Act as a key partner to business stakeholders (Operations, Finance, HR) in translating business needs into technology solutions
• Partner closely with the Director of IT Operations and the VP of Cybersecurity - fellow members of the IT leadership team - to ensure applications, architecture, and delivery work is well-coordinated with infrastructure/operations and security priorities
• Represent enterprise technology in cross-functional planning, M&A integration planning, and executive-level roadmap discussions
• Deputize for the CIO on enterprise applications, architecture, and delivery matters as needed
• Balance a working-manager style: lead and grow the team, while staying close enough to the work to contribute directly when the situation calls for it
Qualifications
• 10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including enterprise applications and/or architecture leadership
• Proven experience building or maturing a PMO function, including governance, prioritization, and delivery methodology
• Experience with enterprise application portfolios in a multi-unit, franchise, or distributed operating environment strongly preferred
• Track record of leading system integrations, platform consolidations, or M&A-driven technology integration
• Strong vendor management experience, including negotiating and holding enterprise software vendors accountable
• Demonstrated ability to balance strategic architecture thinking with pragmatic, fast-moving delivery
• Comfortable operating as a "working VP" - willing and able to get into the details (architecture reviews, project plans, vendor contracts) rather than leading purely through delegation
• Experience operating in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment a plus
• Bachelor's degree in a related field required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred

Physical & Environmental
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and is required to talk and hear.
