Voting Board Member Opportunity – Mothers United & Empowered, Inc.

Mothers United & Empowered, Inc. is seeking committed, mission‐aligned leaders to join our Voting Board of Directors as we prepare for a smooth transition in February 2027. MUAE supports unhoused, first‐time expectant mothers through trauma‐informed programming, community workshops, Parenting Journey groups, and resource navigation. As we grow toward our long‐term vision—including corporate sponsorships, grant‐funded initiatives, and the development of our future maternity home—we are looking for board members who bring expertise, leadership, and a passion for maternal wellness and equity.

Voting Board Members play a critical role in MUAE's governance, strategic planning, and organizational development. They help shape policy, strengthen partnerships, support fundraising efforts, and ensure that MUAE remains aligned with its mission, values, and community‐centered vision. We welcome professionals with strong backgrounds in philanthropy, grant writing, corporate giving, outreach, community engagement, leadership, and nonprofit operations.

Board Member – Philanthropy, Grant Writing & Corporate Giving

Role Summary: This board member leads MUAE's philanthropic strategy, supporting grant development, donor engagement, and corporate sponsorships. They help secure sustainable funding to strengthen MUAE's programs and advance the development of our future maternity home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide MUAE's fundraising and development strategy
  • Support grant writing, proposal review, and reporting
  • Build relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate partners
  • Identify and cultivate corporate sponsorship opportunities
  • Advise on long‐term revenue planning and sustainability
  • Collaborate with the President and Senior Board Member on funding strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising, development, grant writing, or corporate giving
  • Proven track record securing grants or sponsorships
  • Strong communication and relationship‐building skills
  • Experience with nonprofit development preferred
  • Commitment to MUAE's mission and maternal wellness goals
  • 2-year commitment on the board

Board Member – Outreach & Community Engagement

Role Summary: This board member leads MUAE's outreach strategy and oversees volunteer engagement. They help strengthen MUAE's presence in the community, build partnerships, and guide a team of volunteers who support social media, outreach, events, and program activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead MUAE's community outreach and engagement strategy
  • Build partnerships with local organizations, colleges, agencies, and community groups
  • Oversee volunteer recruitment, coordination, and support
  • Guide volunteers managing social media, outreach, and administrative tasks
  • Support community events, workshops, and maternal wellness initiatives
  • Advise on communication strategies that strengthen MUAE's visibility

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in community engagement, outreach, volunteer management, or nonprofit operations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience supervising volunteers or teams preferred
  • Ability to build relationships across diverse communities
  • Commitment to MUAE's mission, values, and inclusive maternal wellness vision
  • BA in administration, MSW, or legal background accepted.
  • 2-year commitment to the board
