Job Title: Structural EngineerJob DescriptionThis entry-level structural engineer role focuses on designing, analyzing, and evaluating structural systems for buildings and infrastructure projects. You work under the guidance of senior engineers to prepare structural calculations, develop models, and produce construction documents that support safe, reliable, and high-impact engineering solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and analyze structural systems for buildings and infrastructure using established engineering principles and codes.
- Prepare detailed structural calculations for concrete, steel, and foundation systems under senior engineer supervision.
- Develop and refine structural models to evaluate performance, safety, and compliance with project requirements.
- Assist in creating and reviewing construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and supporting technical materials.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and technical experts to resolve design challenges and optimize structural solutions.
- Support structural design activities related to infrastructure and structural steel, ensuring accuracy and consistency across project deliverables.
- Participate in internal design reviews and coordinate with supervisors and the structural director throughout project life cycles.
- Contribute to customer-facing engineering work by helping develop practical, implementable design solutions for critical plant modifications.
- Maintain organized project documentation and follow established engineering standards and procedures.
- Engage in ongoing learning and development to build expertise in structural engineering, nuclear-related projects, and advanced design tools.
Essential Skills- ABET-accredited engineering degree with a focus on structural engineering, including coursework in concrete and steel design.
- Foundational knowledge of structural design principles for concrete, steel, and foundations.
- Understanding of structural analysis methods and their application to buildings and infrastructure.
- Ability to use AutoCAD for structural drawings and design documentation.
- Academic or project-based experience in civil and structural engineering.
- Entry-level experience (0–1 year) in engineering or related structural design work.
- Ability to work under the supervision of senior engineers and follow established technical standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail in calculations and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Internship experience in any engineering industry is highly desirable.
- Interest in structural steel and infrastructure design projects.
- Willingness to work from an office in the Chicago suburbs or Atlanta office as required.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.85 - $36.06/hr.
