Safe Horizon envisions a society free of family and community violence. We will lead the way by empowering victims of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking to move from crisis to confidence.

Safe Horizon's mission is to provide support, prevent violence and promote justice for victims of crime and abuse, their families and communities.

This is an unpaid volunteer position.

A volunteer's role is fluid and varies according to the immediate needs of the program. The volunteer may be asked to perform a variety of tasks.Volunteers should expect to assist Safe Horizon staff in the following capacities:

Volunteer

  • Administrative and clerical duties
  • Answer telephones, voicemails and return phone calls
  • Filing
  • Photocopying
  • Mail sorting etc

All candidates should have a:

  • Willingness to give time, interest and energy to fulfill goals of the program
  • Willingness to work in an environment where clients may be in distress
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of the team
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on a variety of tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with staff and clients
  • Ability to work with a diverse staff and client population
