Job description

Anesthesia Technician

Wage Range: $30.28 - $48.43 per hour

Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.

Job Summary: Provides support and performs duties under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider for routine and complex surgical cases which contributes to safe efficient and cost-effective anesthesia care across the age continuum. Primary Duties:

  1. Functions as a resource to anesthesiologists, anesthesia technicians, surgeons, nurses, hospital engineers, etc., concerning all aspects of anesthesia technical services.
  2. Assists the licensed anesthesia provider in clinical settings.
  3. Provides Intraoperative Autotransfusion Services as requested for elective and emergency procedures.
  4. Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment, supplies and personnel to facilitate department functions.
  5. Provides anesthesia technical support to the anesthesia professional staff for delivery of patient care.
  6. Assists the anesthesiologist and members of the surgical team with management of emergent and life-threatening situations (i.e., airway management, fluid management, medication management, invasive monitoring).
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

License, Certification, Education or Experience:

REQUIRED for the position:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Valid Certification of The American Society of Anesthesia Technician or Technologist certification (Cert. AT, Cert. ATT) upon hire
  • 2 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire
  • Training in Autotransfusion operation preferred but may obtain within six months of hire
  • Possess knowledge of general inhalation agents, local anesthetics, neuromuscular blockers, muscle relaxants, regional anesthesia, sedatives, hypnotics, narcotics, antiarrhythmics, vasoactive medications, and antibiotics, as well as delivery method and patient effects
  • Possess an understanding of anatomy and physiology as it applies to anesthesia care
  • Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R) certification within 6 months of date of hire

DESIRED for the position:

  • 2 years of experience in anesthesia/hospital setting
