Position Summary

The Communications department is looking for a brand and design supervisor to provide leadership over Metro's marketing, brand, design and social media functions.
As the brand and design supervisor, you will:
  • Lead, supervise and coach a team responsible for Metro's centralized design services, social media strategy and standards, and marketing strategy and standards. Hire, promote, assign work, support professional development, evaluate performance and performance manage all direct reports.
  • Manage team workflow and assignments; facilitate cross-team coordination on deliverables requiring expertise not held within the team.
  • Serve on the communications department's leadership team, supporting work on team culture, staff engagement, department visioning, strategic planning, cross-department governance and Metro's overall communications strategy.
  • Oversee the development of brand assets, centralized marketing and social media strategies, serving as an individual contributor as needed.
  • Manage the brand and design budget, including the allocation of funds to shared digital marketing strategies, contracting and design services, as well as centrally created printed materials and branded items used for community outreach.
  • Support department-level reporting, evaluation and continuous improvement processes around customer service and the central tools, resources and strategies that the brand and design team provides.
  • Consult on storyline marketing and social media strategies and plans, helping to ensure alignment with Metro's overall strategy and best practices. Review/approve design deliverables as needed for alignment with visual identity.
  • Manage on-call contracts that are used across the organization to purchase uniforms, branded items and create printed materials and signage. Lead solicitation processes in collaboration with procurement and other subject matter experts.

  • Skilled in collaboration, problem solving and conflict resolution, and coaching employees in these areas.
  • Ability to assess and balance strategic needs alongside internal services requests, creating the best outcome for internal stakeholders and for Metro.
  • Skilled in workflow management and resource allocation planning while still maintaining flexibility to respond to urgent or unanticipated requests.
  • Skilled in systems thinking and identifying opportunities for streamlining or clarifying processes, creating efficiencies and ensuring clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn principles and best practices around inclusive communications, including accessible content, plain language, translation/transcreation and culturally specific marketing.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in the assigned program area, and
  • Four years progressively responsible experience in a similar role, or
  • Any combination of education, professional, volunteer and lived experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities.

Hybrid Telework

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS AND REPRESENTATON
The full-salary range for this position is step 1: $108,864.39 to step 7: $145,888.85 annually. However, unless a candidate's qualifications justify, based on the requirements and Metro's internal equity review process, the appointment will likely be made between step 1: $108,864.39 the equity range step 4: $126,024.75 annually.
This position is not eligible for overtime and is not represented by a union. It is classified as a Program Supervisor II.
