Job description

Do you have a pet that is willing to share its immense love with patients and families? Suncrest is looking for volunteers, along with their pets, to provide a high level of comfort, love, and warmth to hospice patients and their families. Suncrest Hospice invites volunteers and their pets to join the Suncrest Team as we provide excellent care and support to our hospice patients and their families!

The philosophy of hospice care is to provide comfort and the highest quality of life that one can achieve at the end of life. Through an interdisciplinary team including a nurse, nurse assistant, social worker, chaplain, and volunteer, we help the patient and family walk through their journey.

Volunteers are essential members of the patient’s hospice care team. Volunteers are trained to listen, care, and provide companionship for our patients during this important time in their lives. Through careful screening and orientation, our volunteers understand the hospice philosophy to provide as much comfort and quality of life to our patients as possible. All of our volunteers are trained to provide companionship, but we are especially looking for volunteers who are willing to share the love and warmth of their pet's company with our patients. Dogs do not need to be trained in therapy but need to be social, well-behaved, and calm.

We are especially looking for volunteers willing to serve patients and families in and around Stanislaus County.

*MUST BE A LOCAL RESIDENT*

All Suncrest Hospice volunteers are required to complete a background check and TB testing at no charge to you.
