Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for organizing and assisting in all Sports, and Movement programming for youths and adults. The position will be responsible for class management and supporting the Director with the overall development, administration, supervision, and evaluation of the spots and recreation programs. The position will focus on maintaining quality programs while reporting to the Director of Sports and Recreation.
Pay: $17.85- 23.79 p/h
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all participants in sports or movement programs through close supervision of all activities.
  • Create objectives and goals for each session, develop lesson plans and curriculum.
  • Foster a fun, safe, and educational atmosphere for all participants.
  • Complete assigned program documentation, including registration, incident/accident reports, attendance, and sign-in/sign-out sheets.
  • Build authentic relationships with students and parents, encouraging connections within the YMCA community. Promote parent involvement and identify potential volunteers.
  • Maintain open communication and excellent rapport with participants, staff, and family members.
  • Assist in the maintenance and management of facility equipment in collaboration with the branch's maintenance department.
  • Have thorough knowledge of branch emergency procedures and take appropriate action in emergencies.
  • Evaluate the performance and progress of participants.
  • Adhere to the YMCA Code of Conduct.
  • Exemplify the YMCA Core Values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Provide a positive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team setting with both staff and program participants.
  • Demonstrate strong values of leadership and be a positive role model to participants, colleagues, and staff.
  • Being self-disciplined and motivated to apply creative problem-solving skills to ensure member satisfaction and retention.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Coach: 1 year (Preferred)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions. Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in accordance with instruction. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must have the ability to instruct and observe participants in proper techniques. Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, use hands, stoop, crouch, or jump. Regularly lifts up to 10 - 50 pounds.
