Job description

Americo is hiring a full-time Test Automation Engineer I to join our expanding team!

The hours for this position are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM on site at our Downtown Kansas City, MO location.

Overview

The Information Technology department is responsible for supporting Americo's business systems, applications, and technology solutions that help deliver life insurance and annuity products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts for assigned applications and user stories using approved frameworks, coding standards, and reusable components to validate functional and regression requirements.

  • Execute automated test suites in local and shared environments, review results for accuracy, and identify failures, flaky tests, and coverage gaps that require follow-up.

  • Troubleshoot failed tests to determine whether the cause is an application defect, data issue, environment instability, or script error, and escalate findings with clear supporting evidence.

  • Contribute to shared automation framework components, utilities, and object repositories to improve script reliability, readability, and reuse across team projects.

  • Document automated test cases, execution outcomes, known issues, and script changes so team members can reproduce results and support audits or release reviews.

  • Collaborate with QA, developers, and business partners to clarify requirements, assess testability, and identify automation candidates within assigned work.

  • Continue building core C# and automation skills while deepening understanding of Americo's insurance products and systems to increase independence over time.

Required Qualifications

  • Junior college/two-year college training, or equivalent relevant IT experience.

  • Foundational QA skills, including requirement analysis, defect tracking, and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with basic programming and object-oriented concepts, particularly C#.

  • Experience adding automated tests to an existing framework using Selenium WebDriver or a comparable tool.

  • Basic familiarity with API and web services testing concepts, including REST, SoapUI, or Postman.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, time management, and task management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
