Description

Summer Camp Counselors provide direct supervision of a group of children during day camp. Our staff provide quality experiences and an environment for the children and parents. A qualified individual is energetic, creative, professional, patient, and exhibits a desire of working with kids.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create a fun and safe environment for all kids

  • Plan, lead, and take part in various indoor and outdoor activities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate weekly and daily activities

  • Follow program requirements and standards for safety and cleanliness

  • Create and maintain relationships with children and parents

  • Communicate effectively with other staff, supervisors, and parents

  • Manage conflict and issues with campers across a multitude of developmental stages

  • Responsible for the health and wellbeing of all campers in their care.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel

Requirements:

  • Ability to engage children between 6 years - 12 years of age for extended periods of time

  • Must be at least 18 years of age (Junior Counselors can be 16 or 17)

  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check prior to hiring

  • Must have proven organization skills

  • Ability to provide high energy, high enthusiasm, and a positive personality each and every day

  • High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college in an educational field preferred

  • Previous experience supervising or working with groups of children; experience in a licensed childcare center or summer camp preferred

  • Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred), or the ability to become certified (required). Additional training for the certification in Medication Administration may be required of group leaders.

  • Must have a passion for working with kids & giving them the best experience possible

  • Must be available to work weekdays during camp hours (TBD)

Environmental Setting


The Camp Counselor will normally work in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Frequent exposure to outside ambient conditions is required.
