**This role is eligible to be fully remote**

Brief Description

The Senior SAS Programmer in the Biostatistics Department is responsible for:

  • Having the experience and expertise to handle complex research or development statistical programming assignments in SAS and/or R with little supervision.
  • Accepting responsibilities for coordinating all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Taking the initiative to assist CAP members and committees with project development.
  • Strong R experience, especially generating and formatting PDF reports with precise control over plots, layout, margins, and printed output.
Specific Duties

Primary duties and responsibilities of the Senior SAS Programmer:

  • Program, test, specify, debug, implement, and document application programs used for assigned projects.
  • The validity of statistical programming used in assigned projects.
  • Provide timely and accurate statistical summary information for assigned projects and provide results to CAP staff and committee members.
  • Create customized reports for CAP products using SAS and/or R.
  • Independently consult with committee members and CAP staff to define the focus, scope, and resources needed to complete each assigned statistical programming project.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement enhancements to increase productivity and performance.
  • Act as the primary contact to address problems and provide interpretation of reports.
  • Provide timely corrected participant reports upon request.
  • Advise other Biostatistics staff on programming issues.
  • Other assignments as directed by the Manager.
Knowledge / Skills Required / Preferred

Personal:

  • Excellent verbal communication, technical writing skills, and problem solving ability.

 

Professional:

  • Excellent technical skills and the ability and desire to acquire knowledge, expand expertise, and keep current in the statistical programming field.
  • Basic knowledge of statistics as related to medicine.

 

Technical:

  • Advanced knowledge of SAS, R, and other applications.
Education / Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.

 

Experience:

  • At least five years experience programming in SAS and/or R required.
