Job description

As part of our Software Engineering Group, you will be working with globally distributed teams, including business representatives, business analysts, architects, and engineers to plan, design, develop, test, and implement solutions. As a Guidewire Rating Developer, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of rating logic and ratingrelated components within Guidewire PolicyCenter. You will collaborate with senior developers, architects, and actuarial partners to support our modernization and cloud transformation initiatives while ensuring consistent, highquality delivery. The role works closely with the Senior Manager - Software Engineering.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain rating worksheets, rating engines, modifiers, and rating artifacts within Guidewire PolicyCenter.

  • Configure, write, package, and deploy GOSU code, rating logic, product model changes, and rating tables.

  • Collaborate with business and actuarial teams to understand rating requirements and implement accurate, maintainable solutions.

  • Support and maintain integrations related to rating inputs and outputs (including Earnix, lookup services, and external rating data sources).

  • Participate in peer code reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices.

  • Support QA with ratingfocused test cases, defect resolution, and validation of rating scenarios.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in rating logic, product model, and connected rating components.

  • Participate in Guidewire Cloud upgrades by validating rating behaviour and completing required adjustments.

  • Monitor system and rating performance and help identify areas for improvement.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related fields, or equivalent experience.

  • 3 - 5 years proven experience in Guidewire Development, ideally with handson PolicyCenter rating experience.

  • Expertise in GOSU Language, configuration and coding using Guidewire tools and accelerators, Guidewire Batch, and Guidewire predefined plugins.

  • Read code in other languages and reverse engineer products.

  • Agile software development, including the use of Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, etc.

  • Domain knowledge on Property & Casualty Insurance

  • 5+ years of experience with coding in multiple programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, etc.

  • Expertise in the end-to-end design and development of business database applications.

  • Experience building modern web applications and designing Web APIs with REST/JSON.

  • Exposure to RESTful APIs and basic integration patterns is an asset.

Must have:

  • Guidewire Associate Certification.

  • Guidewire Rating and Policy Center experience.

  • Experience working on Guidewire Cloud.

  • Experience with Earnix rating/pricing models or integrating Earnix with Guidewire (critical to the role).

  • Familiarity with Guidewire Cloud Tools: TeamCity, Bitbucket, DataDog, Guidewire Home.

  • Understanding of Guidewire Messaging and basic synchronous/asynchronous patterns related to rating workflows.

Nice to have:

  • Guidewire Ace Certification (preferably PolicyCenter).

  • Guidewire Integration/Claim Center/Billing Center Configuration Knowledge.

  • Experience writing automated GUnit tests for rating logic using Guidewire data builders.

  • Experience supporting Guidewire Cloud version upgrades.

  • Experience handling Guidewire Cloud Assurance.

  • SQL skills and familiarity with relational databases.

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $85,000 to $105,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
