Job description

The Program Supervisor provides administrative oversight of assigned programs, and serves as the lead Program Supervisor in coordinating with the others in the designated program. The Program Supervisor supervises professional staff and is accountable for program outcomes. Position complies with agency policies, applicable State laws and regulations, service contracts, and funding sources.

Position adheres to technical and professional standards and practices.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides supervision and support to staff. Knowledgeable, available, responsible, accountable, professional, critical thinking/problem solving abilities, resourceful
  • Oversees the services performed by contracted staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Provides consultation and organizes training opportunities and sharing of staff expertise for assigned program area.
  • Provides supervisions, coaching and performance evaluations according with Agency's standards.
  • Interviews and selects candidates to fill open positions following agency best practices.
  • Conducts program evaluation and applied research activities within the program.
  • Assesses the needs pertaining to program area, and meets those needs with existing resources or recommends the development of additional resources and relays information to the Director.
  • Partner effectively with support areas to include finance, human resources, IT, facilities, etc.
  • Implements program services in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Assists director and/or leadership with the fiscal management of program, including monitoring of all income and expenditures as applicable to program area.
  • Communicates with referral sources in specific program areas to maintain a working and problem-solving relationship.
  • Professionally communicate program services and needs to internally and externally.
  • Acts as a resource to staff as needed for crisis situations.
  • Is subject matter expert and represents director in absentia
  • Participates in the Agency budgeting process.
  • Consults with the director and/or leadership in regard to funding applications.
  • May be required to conduct assessment and services.
  • Supervision of staff with limited scope in relation to size of staff, programs/sub-programs and locations.
  • Utilizes expertise of PS II and PS III as a resource.
  • Provide specialized training, stakeholder presentations,
  • Safely and effectively monitor program and client activities.
  • Attends and participates in all required meetings.
  • Holds self and staff accountable to perform work and represents AzCA in accordance with our mission, vision, values and Foundations for Success.
  • Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality to provide consistency in serving clients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, which are consistent with the general responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field of study from an accredited college or university and at least 2 years professional experience in the behavioral health/child welfare field, required OR
  • Master's degree in related field of study with 1 year experience in behavioral health /child welfare field.
  • 1 year supervisory experience or escalating responsibility preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of management techniques and skills in implementing supervisory best practices assessing and monitoring staff providing direct services.
  • Understanding of agency policy, State statues and contract documents in regard to program scope.
  • Ability to effectively incorporate Trauma Informed concepts and practices.
  • Ability to understand and respond appropriately to requests.
  • Effectively handle emergency situations and safely perform duties despite distractions.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment and be sensitive to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Basic knowledge of human development and family life cycle in children and families.
  • Basic knowledge of cultural situations involved with the child and family.
  • Basic knowledge of family therapy and child management techniques from a systems perspective.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of community resources to appropriately assist client.
  • Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in the English language. Might also require Spanish.
  • Ability to interact well with various levels of staff and with guests of AzCA.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and interpret complex information and apply as needed.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments in and outdoors with various obstacles, stairs and unknown conditions.
  • Must be physically capable to administer approved behavioral management techniques as applicable.
  • Must be able to physically demonstrate competency in the following areas: operate an agency transport vehicle (unless declared a non-driver).
  • Able to operate common office equipment and be proficient with electronic health records, calendaring, word processing and other needed computer and electronic devise skills.

Other Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age (licensing requirement).
  • Possess a valid Arizona driver's license and be insurable under the agency's automobile policy.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation to and from clients' homes and/or other relevant organizations/agencies.
  • Must be able to provide DPS fingerprint clearance.
  • Must be able to meet training and agency compliance requirements for the position.
  • May be required to travel for program and agency required meetings.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends to accommodate client schedules.
