Volunteer Coordinator

What You'll Do

  • Recruit, interview, educate, and support hospice volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain volunteer orientation and training programs.
  • Conduct at least three volunteer recruitment sessions each year.
  • Work with patients, families, caregivers, and the hospice team to identify volunteer needs.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate volunteers.
  • Maintain volunteer records, personnel files, and monthly program statistics.
  • Coordinate volunteer support and educational meetings.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary group (IDG) meetings.
  • Represent Gallagher Hospice at community events and educate individuals and organizations about hospice volunteer services.
  • Help develop and continually improve the volunteer program.
  • Participate in QAPI activities and teams.
  • Assist with budget planning and program development as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in human services preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Hospice and/or volunteer program experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to recruit, train, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate volunteers.
  • Understanding of the hospice philosophy and the importance of compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Someone who is organized, dependable, compassionate, and enjoys working with people.
