POSITION TITLE: Employee Health (Medical Assistant)

DEPARTMENT: Nursing

EMPLOYEE REPORTS TO: DON/Infection Control

SUPERVISES: N/A

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS


This position preferers a Medical Assistant. Two years of experience is preferred. Must possess BLS/CPR certification upon hire. Communication/writing skills. Effective interpersonal skills. Sufficient previous teaching/training experience in a healthcare setting. Instructional, communication, organizational and directional skills required.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Position-Specific Standards:

1. Identify health educational interests and needs of the community and coordinate hospital-sponsored health educational programs, arrange for specialized instructional resources and provide hospital input in collaboration with community health programs and services, as time allows.

2. Participate in orientation of new staff members when requested to ensure their understanding of policy/procedure and role responsibility.

3. Conducts new on-hire screenings and annual employee health screenings to include health history, immunizations update, and brief physical assessment.

4. Refers employees with identifiable limitations and/or health risks to appropriate resources.

5. Offers health promotion incentives and educational materials.

6. Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure completion of all health screenings.

7. Conducts surveillance and follow-up of employee exposures to communicable diseases.

8. Plans, implements, and conducts annual Flu Vaccine Program.

9. Plans and implements other vaccine programs as directed by APIC, OSHA, CDC and other regulatory agencies, to include Tetanus and MMR.

10. Conducts TB screening for all new employees, all other employees, and volunteers according to the Hospital TB control plan and/or at least annually. Conducts follow-up skin testing for all employee TB exposures.

11. Trends employee illnesses/injuries to identify safety and health issues.

12. Plans, implements and conducts annual TB and blood borne pathogen training to employees in required departments.

13. Provides education on an as needed basis regarding hand washing and isolation practices.

14. Demonstrates awareness of an adherence to legal requirements pertinent to employee health and safety.

15. Maintains employee health records.

16. Maintains summaries and written reports required for employee illness/injury reporting.

17. Participates as an active member of the Infection Control Committee and on hospital-wide committees at the request of the executive level management.

18. Assists with the compilation of data and computer input for the CMC Database and the CMC MRSA database.

19. Provides concise data and tracking of all exposures.

20. Conducts new employee orientation in Infection Control/Employee Health as needed.

21. Provides information regarding the initial assessment of employee injuries and assures the proper referrals are made with Workers Compensation physician practice.

22. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.


ACTIVITY DIRECTOR


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


•Under supervision and review by the Director of Nursing, evaluate resident according to resident’s background, interest, abilities, physical limitations and needs for the purpose of planning a meaningful program.

•Create and implement monthly activity program.

•Provide Administration with a current schedule of planned activities.

•Promote volunteer participation from community to assist in activities for Acute unit.

•Demonstrate Colusa Medical Center philosophy on patient care.

•Support, as well as, be an extension of our philosophy to rehabilitative nursing

•Develop an individual plan of care that meets the resident’s current activity interests and capabilities.

•Attend weekly patient conference.

•Orient, assist and monitor the functions of the Junior Volunteer Program.


Documentation:


•Record resident’s attendance/participation in the activity program, to include response to activities.

•Activities evaluation form completed within four (4) days of patient admission.

•Maintain past monthly activities schedule records.

•Record monthly resident council meetings.
