JOB SUMMARY
The Volunteer Recruitment Manager leads the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of volunteer recruitment efforts across Meals on Wheels Central Texas. This role translates organizational and departmental needs into targeted, data-informed outreach plans and directs all aspects of volunteer recruitment, including inquiry engagement, application workflows, and onboarding optimization.
This manager is responsible for developing recruitment strategies, advising internal stakeholders, and building external partnerships. This role ensures recruitment efforts are coordinated, inclusive, and results-driven, while fostering accountability and innovation to support a strong, volunteer-powered organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED
2-3 years of experience in volunteer recruitment, outreach, or nonprofit coordination
Experience supervising staff or volunteers
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Experience with CRM or volunteer management platforms preferred
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Valid Texas driver’s license, valid auto insurance, and reliable transportation required to fulfill key functions of this position
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct and continuously improve volunteer recruitment operations, including inquiry management and application workflows, ensuring timely follow-up, and a positive applicant experience.
Design, educate, and support the implementation of volunteer recruitment strategies based on departmental needs.
Consult with and advise departments in volunteer role development and recruitment tactics.
Promote inclusive and community-centered recruitment practices.
Develop and execute recruitment strategies across digital, community, corporate, and educational channels.
Partner with the Communications team to design promotional materials and recruitment messaging.
Participate in coordination for the MOWCTX street team, managing volunteer members, scheduling tabling events, and participating when appropriate.
Develop Community Partnerships by organizing outreach, coordinating group volunteer opportunities and offering presentations to interested partners.
Research, identify, and cultivate relationships with schools, universities, and academic programs, maintaining a contact database to support ongoing and future internship and partnership needs.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards related to volunteer recruitment and onboarding.
Own, analyze and report on recruitment performance metrics, using data to drive strategic adjustments across departments.
Contribute to organization-wide volunteer engagement efforts, including retention and recognition.
Collaborate with the Volunteer Support Manager to align recruitment strategies with engagement goals.
Support organizational events, meal delivery, or office support as needed.
