Job Summary
Key responsibilities for this position include the following:
- 50% assisting with supervising, recruiting, selecting, training, and supporting 50+ Peer Tutors in order to promote community and effectiveness among the tutoring staff
- 20% marketing the Peer Tutoring program to UWG students, faculty, and staff through presentations, faculty discussions, promotional materials, and events on campus in order to increase usage of our services
- 15% aiding in administering, collecting, and reporting Center for Academic Success data to institutional stakeholders to evaluate our programs and efforts
- 15% tracking and maintaining records for the tutoring staff, including the College Reading and Learning Association's International Tutor Training Program records, drop-in tutoring schedules and check ins, tutoring drop in summary records, and day-to-day drop-in creations/cancellations.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:
- Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions .
- Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
- Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrolled in the College Student Affairs Master's Program.
- Must be available, at minimum, Monday-Thursday 4-7pm.
Proposed Salary
- A monthly stipend of $1000.00 per month.
- A tuition waiver, reducing your graduate tuition to $25 per semester plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.
