The IT Systems Engineer helps clients succeed through proper analysis, planning, implementing, configuring, administering, troubleshooting and maintaining of their IT environment. This position is also responsible for providing network infrastructure related pre- and post-sales technical support to the sales department. The incumbent for this position will spend a large portion of working hours in the field and must be willing and able to travel, by vehicle, to our offices and clients across Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform remote and onsite service calls for Managed IT clients.
  • Perform the implementation, configuration, and administration of:
    • Security Appliances including Meraki, Barracuda, and Datto/Open Mesh
    • Wireless Networks
    • Virtual Private Networking including SSL, IPSEC Remote Access and Site to Site VPNs
    • Microsoft Server Operating Systems
    • Microsoft Server Applications including SQL and Exchange
    • Microsoft Cloud Services (Azure, Office 365)
    • VMWare Data Center Virtualization Products
    • Enterprise antivirus solutions
    • Microsoft Windows 10 and newer operating systems
    • Common accounting and line of business applications including QuickBooks and Sage
  • Perform Malware identification and removal including manual methods.
  • Maximize client PC and network infrastructure uptime utilizing industry standard best practices.
  • Provide network infrastructure pre- and post-sales technical support to sales staff including attendance of client meetings, as required.
  • Consult on network infrastructure related changes that may benefit the client including solution design, proposal generation, and presentation.
  • Provide training to clients and Rhyme on applicable products or technologies.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge through vendor led training and self-study.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Associates degree in Information Technology field, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience as an MSP, IT Consultant or Outsourced IT Provider preferred
  • Previous experience in small business network administration, including cabling and communication infrastructure, power requirements, switching, routing, firewall, endpointand server security solutions, desktop and server operation systems, network and database applications, disaster recovery planning, and restoration for 1-100 workstation networks.
  • Proficiency in basic math, written & oral communications and Microsoft Office are required.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple clients and demands of the role.
  • Working knowledge of all of the following:
    • Internet Protocol (IP) addressing
    • Microsoft Desktop and Network Operating Systems
    • Microsoft Server Applications
    • Virtualization
    • Common Backup and Network Utility Applications from partners
    • Common Security Applications from partners
    • Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
    • Domain Name System (DNS)
    • Server Message Block/ Common Internet File System (SMB/CIFS)
    • Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID)
    • Command line troubleshooting tools
    • Packet capturing tools
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record, with the ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Current industry certifications such as MCSE, MCITP, Comptia A+, Net+, CCNA are desired.
