Job description

Job Title: Point of Care Lab Technician (Mobile/Laboratory Technologist)
Location: San Leandro, CA 94577
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Shift: Evenings (Monday–Friday)
Hours: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Pay Rate: $26.00 – $32.00 per hour


Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process patient specimens from phlebotomists and couriers
  • Perform waived and point-of-care laboratory testing (Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Molecular as applicable)
  • Operate and maintain mobile lab equipment and instruments
  • Conduct quality control (QC) checks and ensure compliance with standards
  • Enter patient demographics, orders, and test results into laboratory information systems
  • Verify abnormal or critical results and escalate “rare and improbable” findings appropriately
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection as needed
  • Maintain specimen integrity, documentation, and chain-of-custody requirements
  • Monitor STAT turnaround times and ensure performance goals are met
  • Assist with inventory management and supply tracking
  • Perform routine troubleshooting and basic instrument maintenance
  • Follow all safety protocols including biohazard and laboratory safety standards
  • Maintain accurate records for QC, reagents, and test logs


Requirements:

  • Must be LVN, MLT, or CLS (Required)Phlebotomists will NOT be considered
  • Valid California license or certification required per state regulations
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (required)
  • Ability to safely operate a company van daily
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Familiarity with laboratory workflow and processes (required)
  • Prior phlebotomy and lab testing experience preferred
  • Ability to pass COVID-19 vaccination requirement or approved exemption
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)


Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, and repetitive motion tasks
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs regularly
  • May require pushing/pulling equipment up to 50–100 lbs with assistance tools
  • Exposure to biological materials and laboratory hazards (PPE provided and required)
  • Must be able to safely perform duties in mobile and clinical environments
