2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
 

EL Resource Teacher - Bilingual Spanish Certified
Grades K-9
Full-Time Position
 


Reports to:                  Principal
Location:                     Spring Wood Middle School
Employment terms:    181 days per collective bargaining agreement with the KEA

Qualifications:

  1. Professional Educator License (PEL) with the appropriate Elementary K-9 or Middle School endorsements
  2. Bilingual Certification - Spanish Required
  3. Language Arts and/or Math grades 5-8 endorsement preferred
  4. Middle School teaching experience within the last five years preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy as it relates to English Learners
  • Knowledge of Illinois English Language Proficiency Standards for English Language Learners
  • Deep understanding of second language acquisition
  • Demonstrate range of knowledge in teaching newcomers to the United States
  • Multicultural awareness and experience working with the diverse student demographics
  • Demonstrate knowledge of students
  • Selection of appropriate individualized instructional goals based on WIDA and the ELD Standards Framework
  • Demonstrate knowledge of resources to support effective student learning
  • Design coherent, small group instruction based on mastery of the Illinois Learning Standards incorporating the Common Core
  • Effectively assessment student learning and document evidence of student learning, growth, and mastery of standards
