The Oracle EBS Database Administrator is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and lifecycle management of Marquette’s Oracle E-Business environment. The role focuses on proactive maintenance, patching, upgrades, and platform migrations within a high-availability production setting. It manages all aspects of Oracle E-Business Suite application and database tier maintenance, including CPU / PSU patching, one‑off patches, and annual major and minor updates. This is a technical, hands‑on role suited for an experienced administrator who takes ownership of maintaining complex Oracle EBS environments that are stable, secure, and up‑to‑date.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute EBS application tier and database tier patching cycles with minimal downtime and during off‑hours as dictated by business needs.
  • Lead project migrations, cloning, and environment refreshes to support development, testing, and production activities.
  • Monitor and tune system performance to ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness. Maintain accurate documentation of environments, patching history, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with project teams, developers, and business stakeholders during major initiatives and cutovers. Work with Applications team and vendor technical support to resolve performance and functionality issues.
  • Manage database and application security controls, proactively mitigating risk through patching, configuration standards, and adherence to university security and compliance requirements.
  • Perform OS‑level forklift migrations and platform upgrades (e.g., Linux version upgrades, hardware refreshes, cloud/on‑prem transitions).
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise to Project Managers and other IT Services management. Serve as DBA representative on project teams for database/application implementation and upgrade projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 6–8 years of Oracle enterprise‑level DBA experience administering Oracle E‑Business Suite (R12.1/R12.2) in multi‑tier environments.
  • Strong expertise in Oracle Database Multitenant administration (19c/12c) supporting EBS.
  • Proven track record managing patching, quarterly CPUs, and enterprise‑scale migrations.
  • Solid experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and EBS application tier technologies (WebLogic, Forms, Concurrent Managers, etc.).
  • Ability to support planned and emergency after‑hour maintenance or troubleshooting.
  • Exceptional SQL and scripting capabilities.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business or related field.
  • Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Database 19c R12.2 Oracle Applications System Administrator Fundamentals.
  • 10 or more years of hands‑on administration of Oracle E‑Business Suite (R12.1/R12.2) in multi‑tier environments.
