Job description

At Anderson Humane, we know that some of the biggest and most important transformations don't always happen in the shelter, they often happen in foster homes.

As our full-time Foster Coordinator, you'll guide foster families through every step of their journey so that our animals thrive and get the care, safety, and comfort they need. You'll coordinate animal placements, provide guidance to foster families, monitor the animals' care, and step in when it matters most. This role is equal parts logistics, compassion, and connection as you balance urgent placements, medical and behavioral needs, and nurture lasting relationships.

What You'll Do

  • Match animals, especially those with urgent needs, to the right foster homes.
  • Train and support foster families so they feel confident and prepared.
  • Ensure animals in foster homes receive timely medical care, medications, and vet clinic visits.
  • Clearly communicate the animal's health and behavioral needs to foster families and staff.
  • Coordinate animal placements, paperwork, and day-to-day logistics.
  • Be a trusted, responsive resource for foster families.

What You Bring

  • Professional experience in animal care, foster programs, or a similar background.
  • Your genuine enjoyment from helping others.
  • Ability to stay organized, responsive, and adaptable in a fast-moving environment.
  • Comfort handling animals with medical or behavioral needs.
  • A deep commitment to animal welfare and compassionate care.

What to Expect

  • $17.00 - $19.00 hourly rate commensurate with professional experience.
  • Meaningful, sometimes emotional work requiring professionalism, kindness, and sound judgement.
  • Hands-on involvement in animal transports and intake care.
  • Collaboration with a dedicated, mission-driven team.
  • Fear Free Shelter certification required within 3 months (training provided).

What You'll Love

  • Deeply impactful work.
  • Being surrounded by others who care as much as you do.
  • Paid Time Off hours
  • Medical, Dental & Vision insurance
  • Short Term Disability
  • Voluntary Life/AD&D
  • 401(k) program
  • Employee Adoption Discount
  • Employee Assistance Program
