Job description

Seeking a Part time (20 Hrs./Week) Food Pantry Coordinator to join our Gloversville Service Center.

Our Part Time opportunities offer:

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

Provides support to the Service Center Manager; Perform tasks associated with daily operation of the office, food pantry and other emergency food social service programs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the operations of the Emergency Food Pantry and any other food distribution program. Tasks include but are not limited to:
    • Assist with volunteer coordination
    • Assist with ordering food from the Food Bank and other vendors. Pickup, unload, stock and inventory.
    • Assist with client intake as needed:
    • Greet guests and route people to the correct program
  • Assist in the operation of seasonal programs including Long Point Camp recruitment, Holiday food, Angel Tree
  • Assist in the Red Kettle Campaign: Recruit and schedule volunteer bell ringers, set up and collection of kettles, relieving volunteers and ring as needed
  • Manage the cleaning/upkeep of the physical site
  • Other duties as assigned by Service Center Manager and/or Service Extension Director

PROGRAM

  • Maintain records of program participants in a confidential and organized manner
  • Assist with ordering, sorting, and stocking of pantry goods
  • Distribute pantry goods to program participants as per Service Center guidelines

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

·         High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is required

·         Minimum of 1-year related experience

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Organized and able to multi-task

·         Proficiency with computer office programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point,

Database, internet, etc.)

·         Valid Driver’s License that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements
