Job description

AIAA is looking for a Membership Engagement Intern to support exciting programs that connect aerospace professionals and students nationwide.

This part-time, temporary position (approx. 20 hours per week, with flexibility) will support AIAA's membership and engagement efforts, helping to enhance and grow membership, engagement, amplify and strengthen key programs that support professional and student membership. Working directly with the Director, Regions and Sections, this role is ideal for an undergraduate or graduate student who is a creative and detail-oriented individual with a passion for engaging with the aerospace community.

This internship will primarily be located at the AIAA office in Reston, VA. Candidates must reside in the DMV area. Housing and transportation will not be provided.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in the capture, review, analysis and distribution of Section and Student Branch Reports.
  • Creating and posting content for AIAA social media, including the AIAA student Discord server
  • Assist in the member renewal process of volunteer leaders.
  • Identify and track sections and student branches that are inactive.
  • Collaborate with the team to refine student branch and section resources with a focus on leadership development.
  • Assist in producing written content for the monthly student branch newsletter, member spotlight articles, and gathering section and student branch event summaries.
  • Assist in planning and university outreach for AIAA's SciTech Forum, ASCEND, and AVIATION Forum.
  • Review and enhance database for universities to participate in AIAA programming, as well as research prospective universities and community colleges for AIAA to engage with.
  • Other duties as assigned by the team.

What You Bring

  • Undergraduate junior or senior or graduate student, currently local to the DMV area, currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • Understanding of social platforms, including Discord, LinkedIn, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube.
  • Passion for aerospace, engineering, or STEM is a plus!
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Position Details

  • Flexible schedule: Expected to work 20 hours per week in a hybrid setting, estimated 10-month assignment.
  • Opportunities to attend local DMV based AIAA events and industry webinars.
  • Work closely with internal teams, members, and external partners to support Institute goals.
