Job Title: Patient Services Assistant - Dental

Department: Dental

Reports to: Clinical Administration Supervisor

Classification: Regular, Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Work location: Onsite

Starting Salary Range: $32,527 - $38,267

Job Summary:

The Patient Services Assistant - Dental provides services to patients who come to Church Health for dental care. This role is essential to ensuring a positive experience for our patients, as the Dental PSA is the first point of contact in the office. Dental PSAs should have excellent communication and customer service skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to multitask in a busy dental office environment. This position will manage patient communications, scheduling, and administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the dental practice.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service and communication to CH dental patients.
  • Check patients in and out for their appointments: including eligibility checks, payments owed for treatment on DOS, and payments owed in the future for large dental cases.  
  • Collect and digitally store patient information: maintain patient records including demographic information, dental guidelines, proof of income documentation, and medical histories
  • Manage phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and provide general information about dental services.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of the dentist's time and treatment rooms.
  • Verify eligibility for dental services and provide alternate resources for those who don't qualify for the program.
  • Assist patients with questions about billing, treatment costs, and split payments on multi-step procedures.
  • Prepare reconciliation report by matching payments collected and balancing funds at end of each day, running reports as indicated by the Clinical Administrative Supervisor.
  • Follow office protocols for patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • High level of organizational skill.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong customer service and the ability to maintain a positive attitude under pressure.
  • Proficient in using computers and basic office equipment. Experience with electronic dental record systems and dental coding is preferred.
  • Good oral/written communication skills


Education and Experience:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate's Degree or Certification: Education or certification in a relevant field is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience is preferred.
