This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.

Associates are expected to put in a minimum of 5 hours per week and be responsive to emails within 36 hours.

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Front-End Developer is responsible for supporting and enhancing Save the Water™’s website and digital platforms through responsive front-end development, website optimization, and ongoing maintenance. The incumbent will collaborate with the Technology Team and UX/UI Designers to implement new features, improve user experience, and support digital initiatives using modern front-end technologies and Webflow.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about creating clean, user-friendly web experiences in a collaborative, mission-driven nonprofit environment. While Webflow experience is beneficial, strong front-end development skills and a willingness to learn are highly valued.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and maintain STW™’s website and front-end infrastructure.
  • Implement website updates, enhancements, and new front-end features.
  • Translate Figma or design mockups into responsive web experiences.
  • Collaborate with the UX/UI Design Team and Technology Team on website and digital projects.
  • Assist with troubleshooting front-end issues, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Support future landing pages, campaigns, and digital initiatives.
  • Help maintain clean, scalable, and organized front-end code and website structure.
  • Contribute ideas and technical recommendations to improve user experience and website performance.
  • Attend virtual meetings in the EST timezone (GMT -4:00) and respond to communications within required timelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support STW™’s technology initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with front-end development technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Understanding of responsive web design principles and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Familiarity with Webflow or willingness to learn Webflow development and CMS workflows. Experience working with CMS platforms and website content management is an asset.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA), website performance optimization, UX/UI design collaboration, and working from design mockups.
  • Familiarity with GitHub or version control workflows is an asset. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, self-motivate, and meet deadlines in a remote environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working in a collaborative, virtual team environment.
  • Interest in nonprofit, education, environmental, or mission-driven work is considered an asset.

Save the Water™ (STW™) welcomes volunteers who are seeking a skill-based volunteering opportunity. STW™ provides letters of recommendation to professionals who demonstrate outstanding contributions for use in professional references.
