Job description

Dark Room Tech

This Dark Room Tech position is based on site in Glenwood, IL and supports production operations in a controlled darkroom environment. The role focuses on machine operation and film processing, including handling sensitive materials and monitoring specialized equipment. The Dark Room Tech will work a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., within a temporary contract that may offer the opportunity for permanent employment. The position requires careful adherence to established procedures, consistent attention to detail, and the ability to maintain equipment used in film processing and related machine operations.

What You Will Do?
  • Operate darkroom film processing machines according to defined procedures and production requirements for each assigned shift.

  • Handle film and related materials in a controlled darkroom environment while maintaining proper labeling, organization, and tracking documentation.

  • Monitor equipment performance during film processing operations and report irregularities or malfunctions promptly to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on darkroom equipment and machinery to support consistent processing quality and uptime.

  • Follow all safety, quality, and handling standards within the darkroom to reduce errors, protect materials, and maintain a safe workplace.

Your Skills
  • Demonstrated experience with film processing, including operating machines that handle light-sensitive materials in a darkroom environment.

  • Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance tasks to keep machines in working order and reduce avoidable downtime.

  • Strong attention to detail when handling film, labeling materials, and documenting processing steps to avoid quality issues.

  • Proficiency in English sufficient to read instructions, follow safety procedures, and communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers.

  • Ability to apply English language skills in both written and spoken form during routine work tasks and documentation activities.
