Job description

At Parafin, we’re on a mission to grow small businesses.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but traditional banks often don’t have their backs. We build tech that makes it simple for small businesses to access the financial tools they need through the platforms they already sell on.
We partner with companies like DoorDash, Amazon, Worldpay, and Mindbody to offer fast and flexible funding, spend management, and savings tools to their small business users via a simple integration. Parafin takes on all the complexity of capital markets, underwriting, servicing, compliance, and customer service for our partners.
We’re a tight-knit team of innovators hailing from Stripe, Square, Plaid, Coinbase, Robinhood, CERN, and more - all united by a passion for building tools that help small businesses succeed. Parafin is backed by prominent venture capitalists including GIC, Notable Capital, Redpoint Ventures, Ribbit Capital, and Thrive Capital. Parafin is a Series C company, and we have raised more than $194M in equity and $340M in debt facilities.
Join us in creating a future where every small business has the financial tools they need.

About the Position

We're looking for a software engineer to join our Product Engineering team in San Francisco. Our team owns the end-to-end experience across Parafin's financial products, from the UI layer down to the APIs and services that power it. You'll work across Design, Product, and Engineering to build high-quality user-facing products.

As a Senior Product Engineer, you'll own large product areas end-to-end, from scoping projects to making technical decisions and driving outcomes. You'll have a direct hand in shaping what we build and how it’s built.

What You’ll Do

Ship polished user experiences and own the APIs, data models, and backend services behind them. Care about the details that matter, like performance, reliability, and responsiveness.

Develop strong product context and use it to shape what we build. Partner with Product and Design to inform roadmap decisions and improve the user experience, not just execute on specs.

Make sound technical decisions and contribute to architecture and design. Participate in design reviews and collaborate with Engineering to align on tradeoffs.

Improve code quality, systems, and team processes. Mentor other engineers and help foster a culture of craft and ownership.

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of experience building and shipping user-facing products, with experience owning projects end-to-end and driving them from scoping through execution.

Comfortable working across the stack and going deep where needed. You’ve built production-quality UIs in React and have experience building APIs, working with databases, and debugging backend systems.

You care deeply about user experience and can reason about what makes one UX better than another. You think through edge cases when data is missing or when users do something unexpected.

You are opinionated about how software should be built and contribute to abstractions, architecture, and patterns that make the product easier to develop and maintain.

You’re a strong cross-functional collaborator who works effectively with Engineering, Product, and Design to drive projects forward, align on tradeoffs, and deliver high-quality outcomes.

What We Offer:

Salary Range: $230k - $265k

Equity grant

Work from home flexibility

Unlimited PTO
