Job description

Position Summary: Under general supervision, the Admissions Recovery Support Services (RSS) Recovery Coach is responsible to the Director of RSS and the Director of Admissions. The RSS Recovery Coach must provide tracking data for sustainability of quality case management services.

The RSS Recovery Coach / Recovery Support Peer Specialist is responsible for ensuring services to help clients address barriers to recovery including economic, childcare, employment, education, health, housing, transportation, life skills, parenting, recovery, federal, state and local assistance, vocational assistance, GED referrals and family needs, in addition to identified substance use and mental health issues. The Recovery Coach will promote the Social Model philosophy that reinforces healthy living skills and associated values, attitudes, and connection with self and community for sustaining recovery.

No smoking workplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Provides mentoring/individualized transition and recovery support assistance.

· Conducts telehealth and face-to-face contact to discuss recovery wellness planning.

· Guides participants to outreach services and community integration.

· Facilitates recovery support groups.

· Collaborates with recovery support groups, aftercare providers, churches, corporations, alumni, and volunteer organizations.

· Answering calls, screenings and scheduling intakes.

· Provide transportation for new intake basic needs; jail-release; medication.

· Provide support and follow-up to participants on waitlist.

· Facilitate reminders for new intake appointments.

· Assist when participants transition to treatment, introducing them to treatment team and facility

tour.

· Assists with the needs of Admissions and Admissions Director.

· Attends staff meetings and training.

· Provides pre-admission engagement and outreach to reduce barriers to SUD treatment admission.

· Report to Director of RSS for training, education and supervision. Attend the monthly department meeting 1st Fridays 12-1:30p.

· Meet new intakes in lobby for welcoming.

Education/Experience:

A high school diploma or General Equivalent Diploma (GED) required. Active RSPS-I status or RSPS certification. Previous experience in recovery and crisis intervention required. Knowledge of substance use and ethical standards required.

Certificates and Licenses:

RSPS or MHPS Certification required from Health and Human Service Commission.

NOTE: Recovery Support Peer Specialists -- must have certification with Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals (TCBAP)

Approval Requirements:

Position requires must have at least two years of recovery lived experience. Must currently be involved in a pathway to recovery for personal recovery.
