To apply for a classroom observation placement, follow the standardized procedures outlined below. These requirements ensure the safety of students and the professional integrity of the learning environment.
1. Core Eligibility & Documentation
We require observers to be affiliated with an educational program. Before applying, prepare the following:
  • Identification: A valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver's license).
  • Number of hours you are required to observe
  • University Advisor Name
  • University Advisor Email

2. Mandatory Clearances
You must complete all background checks before entering a campus. Standard requirements include:
  • State Criminal History Record: PA State Police Clearance Act 34 (Can say "VOLUNTEER or OTHER" purposes - No FEE for Volunteer)
  • Child Abuse History Clearance: Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance (Can say "VOLUNTEER or OTHER" purposes - No FEE for Volunteer)
  • Federal Fingerprinting: Act 114 FBI Fingerprinting (There is a fee)
  • Health Screening: A negative TB test result dated within 3 months of the date the district receives it.

3. Application Steps

  2. Upload Documents: Upload clearance forms. You will need to have all of these documents prior to completing the application.
  3. Await Approval
  4. Secure Placement: Valerie Abraham will email you and your placement once your application has been fully processed.

4. Observer Professional Conduct
Once approved, you must adhere to strict professional guidelines:
  • Dress Code: Maintain professional attire that distinguishes you from the students (no shorts, flip-flops, or revealing clothing).
  • Check-In: Always report to the front office first to sign in and wear an issued Visitor badge at all times.
  • Classroom Etiquette: Do not use cell phones, take photos/videos, or participate in classroom activities unless explicitly invited by the teacher.
