Job description

Lake Superior Community Health is currently seeking a Chiropractic Assistant.
The Chiropractic Assistant works within the clinical care team to assure quality patient care and to support the goals of Lake Superior Community Health Center. The Chiropractic Assistant (CA) will perform delegated clinical and clerical duties within the supervising chiropractor's scope of practice. The chiropractor supervision shall be active and continuous, but shall not necessarily require the physical presence of the supervising chiropractor at the time and place that the services are rendered.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serve as a positive, enthusiastic, professional, and proactive member of the LSCHC team.
2. Assist with pre-visit planning for patients including review of routine x-rays, preventative services, and acquiring supporting documentation from other providers.
3. Assure all consents and needed equipment are readily available for procedures.
4. Assure needed documentation is present such as requested by the chiropractor.
5. Provide direct care to patients and assist chiropractor with clinical procedures consistent with protocols.
6. Assure patient flow is efficient and patients are redistributed as necessary in order to stay on-time.
7. Open exam and treatment rooms at beginning of the day and close at end of the day.
8. Prepare patients for appointment:
  • Assist patient to an exam room.
  • Capture chief complaint.
  • Obtain and document any pre-procedure information as needed.

9. Discharge patients.
10. Maintain radiography equipment according to policy and procedure.
11. Assure regular inspections of radiography equipment as directed by manufacturer.
12. Keep current certification in CPR and radiology (as deemed by State of MN).
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Clean and stock exam rooms.
2. Sterilize instruments.
3. Maintain inventories of clinical supplies, instruments, and equipment; coordinate and oversee the disposition, serviceability and sterilization of clinical facilities and equipment.
4. Stock patient care rooms.
5. Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with each member of the clinical care team.
6. Assure efficiency in communications and adherence to organization workflows.
7. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Willingness to be hands-on with patients.
  • Experience with computers and proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
  • Able to obtain X-ray operation certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Experience providing patient-facing service in a sensitive, nonjudgmental manner to people of diverse economic levels and cultural backgrounds preferred.
  • Experience in customer service, front-desk reception, and providing customer service at check-in preferred.
  • Experience with patient intake and coordinating with clinical staff preferred.
  • Familiarity with general office equipment preferred.
  • Experience with EHR systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting preferred.
