Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Oracle Backend Developer to join our dynamic development team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Oracle Database, backend development, and strong expertise in building scalable, high-performance applications. This role requires a Secret Security Clearance, as you will be working on sensitive and classified government projects. As a Senior Oracle Backend Developer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain backend systems that power critical systems and services. You will be responsible for writing efficient and optimized SQL queries, designing database schemas, and ensuring data integrity and security.

As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these are, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), and staying focused on the assigned tasks including company meetings, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Oracle Database technologies
  • Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to integrate Oracle databases with various front-end technologies
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database triggers to support backend applications
  • Perform database tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure high performance and availability
  • Ensure database security, backups, and data integrity in compliance with best practices and security protocols
  • Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers
  • Work closely with system architects to design and implement scalable database solutions
  • Provide technical support for database-related issues and system upgrades
  • Document database designs, processes, and configurations
  • Adhere to government and organizational security standards, ensuring compliance with Secret Security Clearance requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Secret Security Clearance (active or ability to obtain)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience as an Oracle Backend Developer or similar role
  • Proficient in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle Database administration
  • Strong experience in database design, query optimization, and performance tuning
  • Experience with Oracle Database 12c or higher
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integration of Oracle databases with other systems
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and scalable code
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle Data Guard, Oracle RAC, or other high availability configurations.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and version control tools like Git.
  • Understanding of government security policies and procedures related to classified data.
