Job description

Overview

In Reality Labs, content designers have the opportunity to work on emerging tech products while making impressive impact through UX design. As the CD lead for the Augmented Reality (AR) org, you will shape new computing platforms that will make people more connected and empowered in the world. This means smart glasses, augmented reality creation tools and other new products. This is an org leader role that will operate across a number of distinct product areas to communicate and connect concepts across many teams. You will be a key collaborator on the user experience and your leadership will be particularly valuable in some of our thorniest areas including brand, onboarding, privacy, and identity, where we need to communicate complex concepts and help people understand new technology. You’ll also consider how we set new patterns for how people interact in these budding platforms – think gestures and spatial user interfaces. You’ll partner with product, product design, UXR, engineering, marketing, legal, privacy, and other teams to define how we build these new experiences with people at the center – including strategy, operations and execution. The ideal candidate will have strong fundamentals in people management; org building; content design, systems and user experience; experience elevating content quality and efficacy in a data-informed product culture, and a passion for equalizing global access to our product experiences.

Desired Attributes
  • Helping shape how people interact with technology and enjoy building to understand and address complex social interactions in new spaces.
  • Building strong partnerships with XFN and other content design leaders to get things done.
  • Being a creative, systems‑thinking UX leader.
  • The work is nascent and you’ll have a chance to guide and shape direction across many product and language systems.
  • Operating horizontally to make connections across teams and workstreams.
Responsibilities
  • Have a point-of-view about strategic decisions, using insights from the team.
  • Understand how to influence stakeholders and leaders to implement the best ideas.
  • Have prior experience as a leader of a content design team that is large in size and/or complexity, including managing managers, working across disparate product areas, managing through directional changes, and building an effective content design practice and org.
  • Shape team strategy, identifying risks and prioritizing opportunities.
  • Identify gaps and solutions for future growth and scale within the team or org.
  • Build a diverse and an inclusive environment across the team, model inclusive behaviors, and hold managers accountable.
  • Be adaptable, conceptual and resilient in the face of change.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Prior experience with Meta can be considered to supplement an applicant’s prior years of experience or types of prior experience to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
  • 10+ years experience in content design or a related field.
  • 5+ years experience directly managing, coaching and developing full-time employees including 1+ years experience managing managers.
  • 3+ years experience building teams over time through hiring, growing, and retaining high-performing employees.
  • 3+ years experience working with a variety of cross-functional peers and stakeholders (e.g., product managers, data scientists, product designers, researchers, engineers, policy, communications, marketing).
  • 3+ years experience influencing product strategy with cross function partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • +5 years experience influencing product strategy with cross function partners.
  • Experience establishing a content design, or similar, team within an established organization.
  • Experience with traditional content strategy.
  • Experience in gaming, hardware, AI, or other new technology spaces.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, HCI, communications, or other related field.
